What's the difference between rap & hip-hop (read inside)?

I have to write this long summary on Kathleen Rountree's "In Defense of Hip-Hop".
But, it seems like she has made certain mistakes by confusing hip-hop and rap music.
(I'm not sure.)

A) all Hip-Hop is neutral in that respect, Hip-Hop is about self expression, that's why the original 5 elements are all expressive.

D) Hip-Hop is a culture that was conceived in the Bronx in the 70s, partially due to Blacks and Hispanics being excluded from discos. The five central elements of Hip-Hop are Mcin, DJin, Breakin, Burnin, and Beatboxin.

And to set it straight. There IS rap that isn't Hip-Hop. Anytime rap falls under the category of pop, it's no longer Hip-Hop
(Candy Shop by 50 Cent, Fireman by Lil Wayne, anything by Soulja Boy thus far) because it's not true to the culture
