Gray Sweater Size
Knitters - advice on a sweater I'm making?
I'm knitting a sweater. It's grey and I'm using size 8 needles. The basic pattern is p1 k3 so that it has vertical stripes pretty much. I also have a cable braid in the middle, and it's a V-neck. I'm making up my own pattern, and I have just finished the front and the back, and haven't done the sleeves yet. For the sleeves, should I keep going with the p1 k3 pattern? Or should I just make it stockinette? Or maybe I could make the stripes a little skinner and go with p1 k2. I'm just afraid that thick stripes will look strange on skinny sleeves. What do you think?
If you don't want to do the entire sleeve in the rib pattern you are using, what you could do is have a panel of the rib pattern going up the middle of the sleeve. That way the sleeve would be less bulky (not such a thickness under the arm) and it would match the body and the sleeves to each other. It would also use less yarn, as rib is greedy in using yarn, and it would make sleeve shaping simpler without distorting the rib pattern as might happen if you were to make the whole sleeve in rib.
